Wow it's been forever
Ok so I know I haven't posted anything since August so here goes. School is going great. I have 19 fourth graders and they have been awesome so far. I just hope that they are learning something while they are with me. I have so many challenges everyday, but I love it when we can overcome those challenges together. I am also staying busy with my church calling. I am the second counselor in the young men's so I am busy with scouts and deacon's quorum activities. I was figuring it out and between school and church I put in about 65 hours each in school and church related work. Anyway I need to stop complaining. Things are going great. Jackson is getting huge. We are trying to get him to start eating some cereal and things. Here's a quick video of him eating his cereal for the first time. He also loves that exersaucer and that stupid tamborene. He wouldn't let it go. He is getting so big and strong. Yesterday we had him to where he was sitting up by himself for about a minute at a time. He still won't roll over though. He is definitely the boss in the house, and he knows it. It's been fun though. We love having him. Other than that things are going great. Austin weather has been much more tolerable lately. It has been in the upper 70's or lower 80's about everyday. When it rains it stays in the 60's so we are enjoying this time of year. This is why we came here.

End of Summer

Jackson video.
This is a little late, but I wanted to post the video of Jackson rolling over. This actually happened at the end of June. Other than that everything is going great. Jackson keeps getting bigger and cuter everyday. I start training on Monday, so my days of sitting around the house being worthless are over (until next summer that is :)).

Austin
So here we are in Austin. I just got a teaching position teaching fourth grade at Oak Meadows Elementary. I am so excited for school to start. I just finished my 6 week summer institute with Texas Teaching Fellows and I am getting ready to start teaching in the fall. I start training next week so this week I'm kind of in limbo without anything to do really. I am just enjoying time at home with Christina and Jackson. Jackson is getting so big. He's as cute as can be. I also just got a calling in our new ward here in Austin. I am the second counselor in the Young Men's. So I'll be working with the deacons. That will be fun. Other than that, we are just having fun here in Austin. I am posting a picture here of Jackson on the fourth of July. He liked swimming with the family and seeing the fireworks at night. I will continue to post pictures of him as he keeps getting bigger.

The baby
So we're sleeping nice and sound on Thursday morning when at 6 the phone rings. We had a doctor's appointment the day before and Christina was already dilated to 4 cm so the doctor said that they could induce Christina the next morning so the phone call wasn't entirely unexpected. We were just thinking it would be closer to 8 than 6. Anyway they said that they could get her going if we got there by 6:30 so we hurried and got ready and drove to the hospital. It was a little weird going to the hospital without any labor symptoms at all. Once we got there, we had Christina change, and the nurse got her ready for the labor. Christina was scared of the iv but it turned out she didn't mind it too much. They started the oxytosis on her at about 7 ish and then the doctor came and broke her water at about 8 to help speed up the labor. By about 9 O'clock the real contractions started to hit her. She was in a lot of pain and repeatly said, "I can't do this anymore." She was great though and strong until she was able to get the epideral in. By the time the anesthesiolegist arrived and they had the epideral in her, it was about 9:45. By 10 she wasn't really in much pain anymore. The contractions kept on coming and just after noon the nurse came by to see how she was doing. To her surprise when she went to check her cervix, Jackson's head was peaking. She called the doctor and then practiced pushing with Christina. Jackson was in a hurry to get out of there. She had to stop pushing and wait for the d
octor to get there. Once the doctor was there and after 5 minutes of pushing, Jackson came without any trouble at all. All the nurses were surprised at how quick everything for Christina's first baby. She did such a good job. Jackson didn't hardly cry at all after they got him out. He cried a little when they gave him his shot. He cried a lot more though when they gave him his bath. He didn't like that at all. All in all though everything went great. He was born at 12:39 pm and was 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 inches long. He's the cutest baby in the world. We love him so much.

So baby. Christina is 9 months pregnant right now, and we kind of want this baby to come like right now. At about 4:30 this afternoon she started having really steady contractions so at about sixish we left for the hospital. They put her on the meter to gauge the frequency and intensity of the contractions and to keep an eye on the baby's pulse and everything seems to be great. She consistently had 60-100 sec. contractions every 5 minutes, but they weren't strong enough to produce real labor so we got sent home. The contractions keep coming now that we are home, but they are more intense now. I can't sleep. I'm a little anxious and a lot excited. We might be heading back to the hospital here soon. Hopefully this time we stay there...

A little about us.
Christina and I have been married for almost 2 years. We were married on May 12, 2007. We starting dating our first year of college in November of 2003 while attending BYU. In June of 2004, I delayed my schooling for two years and served an LDS mission in Honduras and learned Spanish. While I was in Honduras, Christina continued studied at BYU working towards a degree in Home and Family Living. When I got home in June of 2006, we started dating again and a few months later we were engaged. Christina finished her schooling in December of 2006 and I just finished my education this week April 2009. Currently we are expecting a baby boy. Christina is due May 29. We are very excited. We are also preparing to move to Austin Texas this summer where I will be a 5th grade bilingual school teacher. That's a little bit about us. We are just starting this blog so enjoy.
